My Personal Directions for the CATW

1.On the day of the test, I must arrive early. Have everything I need such as pens, pencils and dictionary.Be relaxed and not nervous. When the test is handed out, I first go over the directions before reading the text, which is "
Read the passage above and write an essay responding to the ideas it presents.  In your essay, be sure to summarize the passage in your own words, stating the author’s most important ideas.  Develop your essay by identifying one idea in the passage that you feel is especially significant, and explain its significance.Support your claims with evidence  or  examples  drawn  from  what  you  have  read, learned  in  school,  and/or personally experienced. Remember to review your essay and make any changes or corrections that are needed to help your reader follow your thinking. You will have 90 minutes to complete your essay."
I have to keep in mind that I only have 90 minutes. So I would give to breakdown how I am going to use the 90mins.I will allow myself about 30 minutes  to read the passage twice, then 10minutes to brainstorm-gather information for my essay. Next I would take 40mins to write my essay and use the remaining 10 minutes to review my essay. First time, I would read the passage, second time i will read and underline the main idea and supporting ideas. Next I will brainstorm as in how I am going to start writing my essay. Once I have gathered all the things i need to go in my essay, I will begin writing.  I will write my write my thesis statement/summary-introduction first, next in the body paragraphs(2-3) I will discuss one idea with supporting evidence or examples, and final is an conclusion, summarizing everything up.

2.Things I have to look for keywords, and main ideas.I tend to get nervous when it comes to writing essays, because i know I am not very good at it. I have a problem organizing an essay, such as putting one together. I also tend to only give only one supporting claim instead of two.I need to work on stucture. my essay looks more like a free write. I also need to work more on my grammar.

3.One of my big problems is development.I need to review more good essays and practice on writing more. If i practice more i think i will become more better at writing essays. I believe i can do good, if i just take my time and follow step by step on writing/developing an essay, Just takes practice.

Music

There has been an improvement in the field of health care, known as music therapy, pointed out by Elizabeth Scott in "How and Why Is Music a Good Tool for Health". Music therapy uses music to heal your body and mind. Many who are practicing music therapy, have found it helpful. The author mentioned that "music can be used to bring a more positive state of mind, helping to keep under depression and anxiety under control", I agree with this statement.
From my personal experience, when I am feeling a little under pressure or so, the first thing I do is turn music on. Music helps me take my mind off all the troubles I have. Not any music can help me relax. I would have to listen to some type of of dance music.
I think music helps with pain management, depression and such because when music is on, the individual suddenly forget what they were thinking about and focus on the lyrics or beat of the music playing.
I believe it is a good idea, for hospitals to start using music therapy. It is not a guaranteed it will help everyone, but some people can benefit from it.

Gone Baby Gone.

In  the move " Gone Baby Gone" The police captain, Remy, and Lionel believe that taking Amanda way from her mother, to give her a better life would be the best thing for Amanda. They believe Amanda was not in a good or safe environment when she is around her mother, being surrounded by drugs and etc. Patrick girlfriend Angie, seemed to agree with this situation.

On the other hand Patrick, felt that Amanda should be with her mother under any circumstances. Every child deserves to be with their mother. But he missed the point that her mother doesn't really care about her daughter as much, she is too focus on drugs and partying.

I think that Patrick should have let the Police Captain keep Amanda. Amanda seemed more happier there and she would have got all the care she needed. When Patrick called the police on the captain, and they came and took the Amanda away, you can tell Amanda didn't want to let go of the captain wife. She didn't want to leave. Then when Amanda returned home to her mother, she didn't seem much happy at all. Helene didn't really show much affection to her daughter. After a day of her daughter being returned, you would think she would stop all the bad stuff she was doing and change up but she didn't.

Catw Practice 2

Do public hospitals really care about patients or any injured person in need of attention? In "the Woman who Died in the Waiting Room" by Jeneen Interlant, explains a situation that have happened to a woman named Esmin Green. Esmin Green have felling out of her chair at a Brooklyn's psychiatric hospital. Esmin writhed and twist between two chairs under an watchful security camera try to draw attention for hep but that didn't help. Although two security guards and two staff members passed through the room, they have not bother to check to see if Esmin needed any help. Moments later she has stopped moving, Esmin have died. The  writer mentioned " public hospitals across the county have struggled to provide acute psychiatric care to the poor and uninsured since the early 1960s".
I believe that the hospitals across the country should be able to provide psychiatric care to those who are in need in attention, whether they are poor/uninsured or insured. The reason public hospitals should provide care to the uninsured and poor because if they don't, they would most likely be left for dead. For example, if an poor man was in need of special attention, and was taken to psychiatric hospital, was told to wait in the waiting room for a long period of time.m what happens if he is not attended to in time? The reason his is isn't able to get help, is because he has no insurance and everyone else is being served before him.
I feel that there would be no point in going to an hospital for help if you aren't going to receive any , due to the fact you are not insured. By going there will be considered killing yourself because by time you are ready to be treated it will be to late.
In conclusion, the write Jeneen is trying to say that public hospitals should take more action into their patients, whether they are poor /insured or not. Many ill patients could be offered a place in society than being locked out from uncaring institutions.

Sorry I suck at Doing Essays=/ but im trying

According, to the text" An education in Citizenship" the Illinois house have passed an bill that allows young individuals who are in the United States illegally to pay instate tuition rates at any Illinois colleges or university that they go to. " No one wants to see any able student deprived of a good higher education". I agree with this statement that everyone should be able to better themselves education wise, but we should not bend the law for the non citizen people, just so they can get an education. No one should be able to attend any college and get the same benfit an U.S citizen is getting if they have no legal right being here in this county.

Illegally citizens shouldnt be treated the same as llegal citizens. U.S citizens work for their benifits, illegal citizens just trys to find theri way to get over just to get into this country. The citizenship shouldnt be bent because it will deprive citizens of the nation and the states of what they have the right to expect.

The government shouldn't insist on citizenship, if they were going to bend the rules some how for illegal citizens.

Advertisement Hype

As many people know, advertisements are the most prevalent and toxic of the mental pollutants. Mentioned in the article " Hype" by Kalle Lasn, "approximately 12 billion  display ads, 3 million radio commercials and over 20,000 TV commercials are dumped into North Americas collective unconscious". The reason for advertising is to persuade an audience to take action into buying a product, getting ideas or looking for service. " There is nowhere to run", everywhere you turn there will be an advertisement, whether it is a TV commercial, bulletin board or just a simple phone call from an telemarketer, you cannot escape it.
From personal experience I have seen many advertisements, train, garbage can, taxis, television, newspaper, all over to keep it short. Sometimes I hate seeing ads because its never that much persuasive to me. If you have an product, or some type of service that would maybe benefit the person, they should ad more details and more deals, then they will win the person over. Otherwise they just going to ignore.
Some ads can be helpful to society and some cant benefit us. Such as the cancer for quit smoking commercial, is a good ad to society because it shows what can happen to you if you keep smoking, and explains why you need to stop. Useless ads such as alcohol and cigarettes aren't necessary because its just showing society that it is necessary to have these things to have a good life when its not. Whoever makes those type of ads shouldn't because what if kids see these type of ads, they going to think its the right thing and follow by what the ad is promoting, that's not healthy at all.
Although advertisement is to benefit is to help promote products and such, it should be kept to a minimum. Only post important ads that can help benifit the world, not negativity.
